FreeSpeech AAC Terms of Service
Version 2026-09-29 · Effective 29 September 2026
FreeSpeech AAC (freespeechaac.com) is run by Archer Calder, an individual developer in Houston,
Texas, USA ("I", "me"). Contact: [email protected]. By creating an account or using FreeSpeech, you agree to these terms and to the
Privacy Policy.
The service
FreeSpeech is free. There is no advertising and no paid tier. I may add, change or remove
features. If a change removes something you rely on, I'll try to give notice first.
Accounts
- Who can hold an account. Account holders must be adults. That includes parents
and caregivers, teachers, speech-language pathologists, schools and adult AAC users. Children and
others may use boards that an account holder sets up, but children should not create their own
accounts.
- Setting up for a child. If you set up FreeSpeech for a child, you confirm that
you are their parent or guardian, or that you have the parent's or school's authorization.
- Schools. A school may authorize use for its students for educational purposes.
I remain responsible for my own privacy obligations; that responsibility does not pass to the school.
- Security. Keep your password to yourself and tell me if you think someone else
has accessed your account.
Your content
- You own your boards, text and uploaded images.
- You give me permission to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to run
FreeSpeech for you. That includes sending it to the services listed in the Privacy Policy when
you use the features that need them.
- I don't claim ownership of your content, and I don't use it for any other purpose,
including advertising or training AI models.
- You can export or delete your content at any time on your Profile page.
Only upload content you have the right to use. For photos of other people, you need their
permission, or their parent's or guardian's permission.
Acceptable use
Don't use FreeSpeech to:
- break the law or infringe others' rights
- upload content that is abusive, sexual or exploitative, or harmful to children
- try to access other people's accounts or data
- disrupt, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service's security
Third-party services
- Cloud voices. These are provided by ElevenLabs, using FreeSpeech's key or
your own, and are covered by ElevenLabs' terms.
- Search results. Image and symbol search results come from third parties, and the
rights in those images belong to their owners.
- Linked images. Images linked from other websites are provided by those websites.
Important: have a backup way to communicate
FreeSpeech depends on your device, browser, internet connection and servers that can fail. Keep
another way to communicate available, especially for emergencies, health care and safety.
FreeSpeech is not a medical device and does not give medical or therapy advice.
Suspension and closing accounts
- You can delete your account at any time.
- Me. I may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Except for urgent
security, safety or legal reasons, I'll email you first, explain why, and give you time to
export your data.
- Shutting down. If I ever shut FreeSpeech down, I'll give at least 60 days'
notice so you can export your data.
Disclaimers and liability
FreeSpeech is provided "as is", without warranties, to the extent the law allows. To
the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses
caused by outages or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be
excluded, such as rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer protection laws
that apply to you.
Changes to these terms
For material changes, I'll email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes
effect. Each version is dated.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, USA, except where the law of your country gives
you protections that can't be overridden.
